Name- Jessica Nicole Philips, more commonly known as Jess, Jessie, or Jessica.
Codename-Shockwave
Part of- Jessica is currently a member of the X-Men, but she and most of the members of the team disagree on many subject. The only reason she continues to stay remains a secret that she will not reveal to anyone. It appears that she would fit better with the Brotherhood, and has ran away several times, but always returns.
Age- Jessica is currently 17 years old, and will become 18 on December 31st.
Powers- Not a lot is known about her mutations, and they are hard to control. Not that Jessica cares, however. At first, her mutation was thought to be similar to that of Avalanche's, meaning she can control the Geological patterns of the Earth. But then, when she got angry, Jessica was able to shoot off something in the air, which squashed the Avalanche idea. Finally, after a long time and a lot of research, Professor Xavier was able to determine that Shockwave can send off waves of pressure that can strech for miles, either in air, under ground, in water, or anywhere. The more emotional, or the harder Jessica concentrates determines the strength and length of these 'Shockwaves.' They're also connected to her movements. For example, if she jumps and concentrates, when her feet hit the floor, she'll emit a wave of pressure. The most challenging part of her mutation is another aspect, which is that she has no reflection. Unless she wears at least a quarter inch of clothing, Jessica can not be seen in a mirror, or a window pane, or anything reflective.
Originally from- The border between Canada and Michigan, where her parents owned a Cherry Farm.
Known Family- None, they handed her over to Xavier after she had a nightmare and nearly tore the house down.
Description- Jessica is possibly the shortest on the team, standing at her full height of about 5'2". Yet, even though she is far below average height, she feels she is too tall for her favorite sport of horse racing, where she trains her own horses and acts as their jockey to win money. She is slender, with high cheekbones and a willfull face, and a nose that fits it. Her full lips are usually smiling, though it is against her nature and quite contrasts her look. Her skin is tanned, but looks perfectly natural with her meduim length blond hair and red tips. Her eyes are a strange mix of blue, green and grey, changing colors to fit her moods.
High School Grade- Junior
Classes- Anything that she can't get out of. Her favorites are lunch and surprisingly, Math.
Hobbies and pastimes- Jessica enjoys reading, writing, drawing, listening to music, playing sports, and above all, horse racing. She trains her horses every day, and Cyclops often wishes that she were that vigorous about her own training. She enjoys taking walks and being alone, yet dislikes being around mirrors or windows.
Favorite music- Heavy metal, rock, and a bit of rap. (Examples might be Garbage, Metallica, Trapt, Element, Mest, Goldfinger, Puddle of Mud, South FM, Linkin Park, Third Eye Blind, Cold, or POD)
Favorite foods- Despite her Gothic outward appearance and evil nature, Jessica really has an insatiable sweet tooth and adores anything sweet, be it candy, chocolate, ice cream, or sugar in general. Besides sweets, she also loves cheese, carbohydrates, just about anything but seafood.
Bio- Jessica was born into a rather well of family living on a cherry farm about seven hours away from Detriot, Michigan. Growing up on a lake, she had a very happy childhood. She was an excellent worker, very happy and consientious, and certainly not Goth. Her parents knew there was some chance that she might become a mutant, but ignored that fact because it never arrived. Then one night, when their youngest daughter was fourteen, she had a horrible nightmare that after awakening, she could not recall. But while tossing and turning in terro, she fell off her bed and onto the floor, letting out a wave of pressure that nearly brought the house down.
Frightened, because she had no idea what had happened and why her parents were doing damage control, Jessica stayed inside that day because she did not feel well. When she next looked in a mirror, she recieved a horrible shock: She had no reflection. Screaming in terror, the girl let out several more pressure waves, as was customary when she felt extreme emotion, all of which were stronger then the last. She broke every window and mirror in the house, nearly made the roof collapse, and tore down nearly half the family's harvest that year. Her parents decided that was the last straw. Behind ber back, they tried to make arrangements with Professor Charles Xavier to have her sent to him, but he declined. He already had too many new charges.
Her parents could not keep her in the farm, so they passed their daughter from one relative to the next, and meanwhile, she transformed. She dyed the tips of her hair red, and became a total Goth. Wearing more black makeup then was necessary, she wore heavy amounts of clothing, after discovering she (or at least her clothes) could be seen in a mirror if she chose to. One set of her relatives was so cruel to her, she ran away and joined up with a racetrack. Dressed as a boy, she raced the untrainable horses and actually won. As a gift, the owners of the barn were so pleased with her riding that they gave her one of their rescued horses, a red roan Arabian unfit to ride. When her aunt and uncle finally found her hiding out in the barn, mucking out stalls and working for food, they hauled her back home again, but allowed her to keep the horse, her only friend at the time. Named Wishful Thinking, the mare flourished under Jessica's watchful eye and care.
Finally, her last set of relatives contacted Charles again, and hearing the story of her life, consented to take her in. Now she is arriving at the mansion for the first time, hating the world, and totally bitter from her hard past. She despises mutants, because she is one and feels that they made her what she is, but hated normal people, especially her family, even more because they refused to accept the fact she was different and turned her out. She loves to use her mutation, and isn't scared of it, but hates the fact she is reflectionless... so to speak. Jessica still avoids windows and mirrors, prefering to shatter them before entering a room than face an empty glass.
