Name: Amanda Stokes
Codename/nickname: Torrid
Age: 16
Occupation:
Powers: Powers/Mutations: Heat/Empathy: Can produce extreme heat from her body; if skin touched anything, it would melt, burn, and scar. Can project, absorb and can control room temperature. The distance in which heat emanates from her body is constantly changing, due to emotions and expansion in the use of her powers. She is capable of sending heat blasts from her body and boil anything touching her skin. While projecting her powers she can sense and feel the emotions of whatever her power touches, but this greatly tires her, especially when she attempts to alter the emotions. When activating her powers, her skin turns red and her eyes gain a glazed while her pupils burn a firey red. When she over uses her power she will slip into coma, depending on how drained she is, or will lie awake but unable to talk or move very little if at all, and always burns with a fever so intense that she burns the very clothes off her back and anything else touching her to cinders. Eventually the heat will excel into bolts and balls of heat, as well as creating small fires with the intense heat. Her Empathy will grow to allow her to sense, read and implant thoughts at will as well as whe using her powers. Her range will slowly progress to be miles. Water and dampens her powers, while she can burn and melt ice. Cold temperatures slowly drain her of her power, for her powers kick in automatically when cold or chilled. Psychic mental blasts deeply affect her Empathy powers, causing her to become confused and unable to sort out which emotions are hers.

Once angry it takes a while to get over or accept an apology or give an apology. It is hard for her to forgive and forget, which sometimes impairs her abilities and logic. She doesn't make friends easily, but when once it's earned, she can be playful, friendly, loyal, protective, and talk about things in her or others' past. She has a strong weakness for small animals, especially kittens, in need. When they are hurt or suffering she will do all she can to protect and take care of them. Amanda was once very book smart, but, through the change of events, she is now more street smart than anything else.

Sorry; wasn't enough room above for my bio.
History :The triplets Amanda's, Alanna's, and Anamara's father had been involved with a drug ring when they were but babies. Even though they lived a life of crime, they always had money and never did without. Their father had to take care of them because their mother was so tired after partying that she slept for nearly 24 hours at a time, leaving the girls to wreak havoc when noone was home. Because of this their home was always busy with people coming and gpoing at all hours of the day and night. Around the time the girls started kindergarden, thier father's best friend, Mike, betrayed him by snitching to the coips to be with their mother, who was having an affair with him. Their father had been sentenced to prison for 11 years. The girls' didn't quite understand what had happened but understood nough to know that their Daddy was sent away and it was all Mike's fault.
Once they moved in with Mike, Leon's cousin Robby realized who had snitched, why, and was preparing to take him down when Mike snitched on him as well. Robby was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Their mother, Joy, didn't carethat she sent people she had known her whole life and were like family to jail; she had her new man and that was all that counts.
About a year after they moved in with Mike he began to beat Joy. No matter what he did she always made up an excuse for what he did and why he did it. She would hear no negative talk about him and completely shut people out when they tried to persuade her to leave him. She also didn't care that her boyfriend, whom never intended to marry her, took out his frutration and anger on her children as well, although mentally instead of physically.
When they were about 13 they felt their powers awaken within themselves. Amanda was at home, reading a magazine, Alanna was at a birthday party, and Anamara was on her way to the community pool. Each were soterrified and disgusted with themselves that they ran home to each other. After a furious and deep discussion, they decided to hide what they were from everybody and train themselves.
Amanda emersed herself in books and research in an attempt to learn how her powers worked. She kept to herself, becoming almost obsessed. Slowly she began to control her powers enough so that she didn't flame up at the tiniest comment. She learned how much power she had and what to do with it. She let most of it go before school or in the early morning, which made her feel more normal but vulnerable at the same time.
The first person to know about her Mutant powers was her first boyfriend, Ross. On the contrary to being reoulsed, he delighted in her ability and watched her as she used it for small things, such as melt metal locks on cars to annoy people they didn't like, shrivel plants and gardens, and scar various objects. Amanda thought herself to be in love and, for the first time since discovering she was a Mutant, she was happy. changed, however, when her sister Alanna announced to her family that she was pregnant - and with Ross's child. Needless to say Amanda was furious at them both and cuit herself off from them completely in an attempt to protect them from her fiery wrath. Mike kicked Alanna out of his home and onto the streets. Amanda didn't feel guilty to see her go. She never saw her again.
Mike became furious with Amanda and Anamara. The way he saw it, they should have known what her sister was doing and should have stopped it all from happening. Meanwhile, their mother was taking it hard and began to leave for days at a time. No one knew wher eshe went, but they all had their suspicions that she was hanging out with her old druggie crowd. Mike's beatings became more brutal and his hatefulness intensified greatly. Finally, Anamara had had enough; she couldn't stand living there with Mike and her mother, so she ran away. This put Amanda in a depression. She deeply wanted to leave with Anamara but declined for she felt an obligation to help her mother out of her own depression and sickness.
The day came that she couldn't stand it anymore. Her mother had been gone for nearly a week and a half, Mike and Amanda were arguing constantly. When he actually hit her, she lost her temper. With a powerful blast of heat and scorching fist, Amanda punched him with all her might. He lay there in agony, disbelief, horror, and horror. At the sight of the raw, red, burnt skin, her stomach tightened. She wasn't sorry that she had done done it, but was digusted and horrified that she had. In a panic, she ran from her home, determined to never return, not aware at first of the pain and blood beginning to run from her eyebrow.
Her best friend, Jackie, and her family felt bad for Amanda and believed the story of her mother running off and deserting her which, for all she knew, could very well be true. Here she lived happily and comfortably for the first time in what seemed like years. Everything went downhill with a crash after only nearly two moths of residence. Jackie's little brother decided he wanted to snoop around in his big sister's stuff and Amanda's. He found the diary that Amanda had poured her heart and soul into hidden under her mattress. After reading it, he went to his parents. When she came back later that night, the entire family confronted her. Much to their surprise Amanda admitted she was a Mutant proudly and, at the disgust, fear, and horror from the Mutant prejudiced family, she packed all her things and was gone within the hour.
Having nowhere to go and too proud to go to a homeless shelter or turn herself into the social services system, she wandered the streets for days, using her ability to relax people with just enough heat for them to feel comfortable and let their guard down, she stole money and bought herself the food she needed. She hung around very busy and heavily populated areas and usually slept or rest in the parks, being lucky enough to find one that had a lot of trees and shade. The only problem was that the gangs called parks their territory. After a guy tried to mug her and she completely destroyed him, two girls left silently. Three other muggers came alomg, two male, one female, almsost as if they were purposely sent. The two girls then appeared to her with a large group of people, both male and female, and with varying ages. They offered her shelter and a family - if she joined their gang. She agreed. After being on probation for a month, doing whatever they told her to do and constantly testing her, she was initiated into the Oath Breakers gang. Here she was taken care of but wary of her new family. When they all risked their lives for each other at a gang fight involving guns, Amanda came to trust in them completely and admire their loyalty. Causing trouble, stealing, fighting, etc. was first on their list of things to do for fun. Doing this caused some undoubtable irritation and fury, which is why it was fun. When they found out she was a Mutant, they embraced her ablities and used it forall sorts of things. Things took a deadly turn, though, when a rival gang declared war. During the fight some were killed, wounded, and/or bloodthirsty. Amanda alone killed eight of the rival gang.
Afterwards, being one of only a few survivors, she couldn't deal with being in a gang anynore. Nightmares of the murdered haunted her dreams and was constantly on her mind. Despite consoling herself that she was merely protecting herself and her family, her grief and self disgust did not recede. The only thing she could think to do is to find some way to control her expanding powers so that she won't hurt anyone anymore. Those left of the gang didn't understand this; it was a way of life for them.
Promising to one day return far into ther future, she left the Oath Breakers with a heavy heart. She had heard of a Mutant gang in Massachusettes and decided to check it out, to look for someone who would undertand her and her power problems.
